They are alsofighting the emergence of DVD players which can play discs from aroundthe world, because they upset schedules for film releases in differentcountries.However, Bruce David Eisen, the executive vice-president ofCinemaNow.com, said: "Every user has an internet address whichindicates which country their computer connection is coming from. WhenCinemaNow gets a request from an address outside the US, we will notdeliver the movie if distribution is restricted."Most of the films it has transmitted have been short – though stillrequiring 20 minutes to download over a home modem – and free, becausethe makers are seeking publicity. Notable successes are Atomfilms,which has offered films by the Oscar-winning animator Nick Park, andiFilm.
