FREE DIVX MOVIE DOWNLOADS : It's even stickier when there is no such DVD yet, and people who want towatch the movie at home, or be able to pause it, or whatever, have twooptions: either to wait - patience is something the internet hasthoroughly destroyed; even when buying material goods, 4-6 weeks fordelivery sounds absolutely ridiculous to many of us now. Or downloadand watch it illegally.Here's the rub - intellectual property is not physical property. Copyright law tries to make it so, but this just isn't going to happen. Even if I have never paid to see a particular movie, this does not meanI will not be able to see the movie in perfectly legal ways - a friendmight show me her DVD, or I might tape it off TV. Now, if copyright lawgoes too far in the fileshare panic, that might not stay true - maybewe'll reach a state in which every TV station is pay-per-view, everytime you play a DVD it deducts a fee from your account (wasn't thisDivx?), every song you sing in a shower costs you a quarter.. And I can see amajor counterargument here, that the major source of 'free' intellectualproperty - TV and radio - is really funded by advertising, with thestations paying the artists. But a TV station can't control how manypeople watch their shows, how many people tape their shows and watchthem again. If they only paid a little money for a show which becomesa huge hit, then the creators of that show may not be getting theirmoneys' worth out of all their consumers (Er, anyone know more about theTV industry to support this? Shows aren't paid percentages based onNielson ratings, true?) Horribly unfair, right?Except, a show which becomes really popular will show its creatorsreturns next year, when the contracts are renegotiated and the numberscan be used for leverage. And it can sell DVDs and merchandise andmovie rights and everything...But then again, even if everyone onlywatched LotR online, the merchandise would still be bought. And themovie isn't failing (any more than TV or VCRs drove the cinemas to ruin,as many predicted they would). And the DVD sales...for every one whodownloads the movie and doesn't get a DVD, there's a person whodownloads it and finds they must buy the DVD they never were planningto.--And yes, I just pulled that figure out of thin air, but it's got nomore or less validity than any other 'virtual cost', at least untilsomeone gathers hard statistics. I'm not saying that everyonewho downloaded the movie are good honest people who have seen it in thetheater a dozen times and aren't paying only because there's currentlyno way to and have already pre-ordered the DVD. But nor are they allselfish souls seeking to deprive artists of their livlihood if it meansthey can get something for free. Do you feel guilty for having readLotR 18 times when your only copy is a battered paperback you boughtsecondhand - so Tolkien never saw a dime of your money? Or did you buyyour overpriced hardcover edition only to show your support of theTolkien estate, immediately afterwards donating it to charity? Thetruth is, for most of us, somewhere in between. We want to save a buck,yes. But we also want to support the artists we appreciate. Weappreciate them two ways - by enjoying what they produce, and by payingfor that enjoyment. There are avariety of ways we can pay for our appreciation, and it doesn't alwaysmean handing our credit card to the nice lady at SunCoast Videos. Wecan endure advertising while we watch. We can pay convention fees tosee the director live and in person. We can even donate to the artistdirectly. Or we can be cheapskates and wait to see the movie at abargain matinee for $1.50. All of these are ways to pay the creator -in cold hard cash, not some flighty, worthless 'appreciation' like afanletter. And probably more will develop as the internet winds its waydeeper into our society. Artists have managed to make their living offtheir art for several millennia now, long before the existence ofcopyright, even in the face of rampant human greed, though their methodsfor surviving have varied considerably over time. I seriously doubtNapster & its filesharing tradition is going to change that, though itvery well may alter the current systems. FREE DIVX MOVIE DOWNLOADS : Dreamcatcher seems to have nothing to do with this -- it seems to be nothing more than a cheap attempt by the JA+ webmaster to get more page hits from search engines. I wouldn't be surprised if Dreamcatcher (and others) pulled their ads from the JA site because of this.Email a complaint to the JA webmaster (Valerie Davis) and see if you can get any satisfaction. If that fails, email the same complaint to all the advertisers on the JA site (not just Dreamcatcher). I would expect that almost all of them would apply some serious pressure to get those keywords removed from the webpage.I didn't either. I thought it was when the dog ate too many beans.That is a funny article......even tho' it doesnt' have much to do withadventure games...........but overall that site sucks. Theyfinally..........Finally............ lost some of the flash and most of theanimations but now they have something worse....... Popups. The site ownersare whores for hits and it's too Too obvious they are Dreamcatcher'smouthpiece.............did you ever take a look at their source code?
