You can get subtitles in several differentlanguages on the same disc. I gather DVD hasn't become very popular in Japanyet, but this is bound to change in the very near future, especially with theadvent of the Sony PS2 which includes DVD playing capabilities. (I think DSD -not to be confused with DVD - also made this point recently).If someone you know is going to Hong-Kong, ask this person to buy films onnormal computer CD roms(you can see them on any computer, it works well,good quality ...maybe you just need to download a free plug in). Over there,they have all the Chinese films with English subtitles. Except for veryrecent films, you can buy them in many discount shops for less than rentalprice in Japan. For DVD, it was not that cheap. (well +ACI-not yet+ACI- last July).I wish I had bought lot of them (I couldn't believe it would work, for sucha price...).
